H. Irving Grousbeck is an American entrepreneur, investor, and professor of management practice at the Stanford Graduate School of Business. He is best known for co-founding the private equity firm, Continental Cablevision, which became the largest privately held cable company in the United States before it was acquired by US West in 1996. Grousbeck also co-founded the venture capital firm, Crescendo Ventures, which invested in technology startups including Citrix Systems, Macromedia, and Juniper Networks.
In addition to his work in the business world, Grousbeck has been an active philanthropist and has served on the boards of several non-profit organizations, including the American Heart Association, the Kidney Foundation, and the Boys and Girls Club. He has also been a trustee of Stanford University since 1993.
Grousbeck earned his BA from Stanford University and his MBA from Harvard Business School. He has authored several case studies on the topic of private equity and venture capital, some of which are widely used in business schools around the world.
